Civilizational crisis, counter-hegemonic struggles and emancipatory projects: Challenges, ruptures and organization in the face of ultraconservative advance.

SEMINAR GOALS
Examine the historical development of Social Work in Latin America, its advances, tensions, ruptures, and organization in epistemic, theoretical, methodological, and political terms.
To propose a critical reflection on the 100-year transition of Latin American Social Work, revealing the tensions and challenges that lie ahead for the next century.
Analyze the power structures and hegemonic projects and social relations of production in the region, and how these have impacted social policies, the training and practice of social work.
Critically analyze capitalist, colonialist, and patriarchal public policies in terms of their impact on the reproduction of structural social inequality, poverty, and exclusion in the context of Latin America.
Reflect on the role of social work in the historical experiences of struggle by subaltern classes and in the promotion of social justice and human rights, considering themselves as an actor as workers/managers, administrators, and/or challengers of public policy.
To deepen the debate around the strategies of resistance and social transformation that social workers can adopt to confront the contradictions of capitalism in Latin America and the Caribbean.
To promote the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and expertise among social work professionals in Latin America, enabling progress in a process of disciplinary redefinition/reorientation of training, research, and intervention.
Promote critical and committed training for subaltern sectors, emphasizing the importance of problem-solving education that challenges power structures and engages in collective struggles for social transformation.
